Wow! That was 100 times less hard than I had imagined. With a prayer, correct pacing, patience and courage I drove from Iowa to Northern and Southern, Utah!! (That is, me and the girls-Joe had to work.) What a great and memorable vacation! Our first stop was Hammy, or Amber's, house. She was a roommate at Hill's House BYU-I Winter semester 2000. We had fun catching up. She and Ben have two girls Xela loved to play with. We did a lot of laughing and Amber took good care of us. She introduced me to her AMAZING garden (that's for a whole other blog...). We are looking forward to seeing them again when we are in Utah. Love you Hammy!
The next leg of our trip took us to Hurricane (pronouced Hur-a-kin), Utah where we stopped at Joe's mother's parents house. Kay and Charlotte (namesake). Then Joe's dad and cousin Marlin showed us up to the cabin in Zion's National Park. What a fun time we had there for 4 days! All of the 14 total cousins were there. Xela loved to play with them and was eager wake up every morning to do so. Charlotte watched her cousins play and mostly was a happy floor baby if mom didn't get too far away. It was nice to have our own room, to read books, catch up with others, laugh and just relax. I helped Charlene make Spudnuts and they were delicious! Family members popped in and out so we were able to see most of them.
On the way up to Northern Utah for Joe's brother's wedding I was to pick Joe up from the airport. WAY LONG story short, he was at the Omaha airport early, they bumped his flight, he didn't arrive in Utah at 6:48pm, instead, it was at 11:25pm. Which shouldn't be a big deal, but we didn't find this out until 10:30pm when in exasperation I asked an airport security man to search one last place and he directed me to the Lost and Found. No-Joe wasn't there, but a saintly agent passed on the classified new arrival info. (Maybe it was Charlotte's sweet face that assured her I was not an evil spy. Or-no-maybe it was the worry lines etched in to my forhead above my blood shot eyes and the thoughts running though my head that maybe-it-would-have-been-a-good-idea-to-give-Joe-the-cell-phone-number idea.) Oh, well. It all ended well. Thanks to my brother and sister in law who took up the search around 8:15pm after I was about to give up. (What was I supposed to do that late at night with a 2 1/2 year old who wanted to slide endlessly across the airport holding my hand, and a 9 month old who was hungry and tired?) Ken and Sarah gracously took Xela to the hotel with them, fed her, bathed her and put her to bed while Charlotte and I waited for Joes entry. A sight for sore eyes!!
The next day we attended Adam and Heather's sealing in the Bountiful Utah temple. It was lovely!! Another roommate, Elizabeth, with her fiance Cory and then Amber and her two girls came to watch the children outside of the temple. Another happy meeting for me. E and C were married 10 days later! The rest of that day was a whirlwind of excitement with the luncheon and the reception. A jam packed day. Each of the nieces were given matching dresses. So cute! Joe was the camera man and loved it. The next day we went to Church and then left for CB arriving Monday evening. Thus concludes out summer vacation of 2008. What a ride!!!
It wasn't hard to pick up where I left off in the Twilight series. New Moon and Eclipse went fairly quickly. I think they took me 10 hours each. I finished Breaking Dawn last week and had to give the "what's going on" in the story to Joe when we had a moment. The movie is now moved up to November! Yeah! When the missionaries found out that I was reading the vampire books, "Oh, no, you too? 'chuckle.' Are you in love with Edward?" "No," I said, "I am in love with Joe." And that about sums it up for me. :)

You always seem to have such exciting adventures! It makes me reflect on my own and wonder where my spice ran off to. I will follow your lead- just watch if I don't. You have an adorably cute soul!
Sounds fun. I'm glad you are all safe. That does not sound fun about the airport though. I hate when stuff like that happens. So frustrating. I'm glad you are ok though.
Oh man! I can't believe your were here and neither of us realized we were in the same place at the same time. We would LOVED to have seen you! So do you have family in Brigham? We're liking it here OK. I don't think it will be our long-term "settling down" town, but it's good for now. Louie's job is going really well, and has been a great career move as far as first jobs go.
So where is Joe working? Or is he? I never heard the specifics on that.
I was going to just email you, but somehow I don't have your email anymore, sad. So, here's mine: jlccharles@msn.com.
Thanks for checking in on us! It's great to hear from you.
