In conjunction with the summer
reading program and for home school, we delved into the world of poetry. It was so
much fun! We read different examples, watched my most favorite movie clip of
all times (Dead Poets Society, the classroom poetry part), and wrote our own.

I said it was fun…but that was near the end
when Charlotte wanted to make up 100's more that I had to put the breaks on. Her last ones were a far cry from the first one I “made” her do, below:
You’re
Just Making it Messed Up, Mom
By Charlotte
I don’t know
where to start
I don’t know
Um…
I don’t even
know what to say!
Anne thought it was super funny and wanted to make one of her own. Don't ask me how she linked in the title!! :)
Going to
Hitting
By Anne
A girl said,
“I don’t
like it”
And,
“I love you”
And,
“Boo-baah”
Because she
was laughing
We were in stitches!! It might be "you would have had to be there" things! Xela was
busy creating her own and Charlotte caught wind of the laughs Anne’s poem made
and gave this one more consideration. :)
Mommy
By Charlotte
Mommy’s
sweeping
In the
kitchen
With her big
vaccume
With you
saying,
Of the peom
Never been made
Go straight,
Mom
Good luck!
After
several more giggling poems, Xela was done and this is what she wrote:
The Magic
of the Sea
By Xela
The swishing
of the smooth soft ocean
And you
could hear the swooshing wind on your face
And you can
hear the squeaking noises
Could it be
a gull’s beak chirping?
No, it seems
it’s coming from the sea
Could it be?
Yes!
A whale!
A killer
whale,
My very favorite
The End
When Mom and Auntie Laci came, I asked if Lay could take some pictures. Here are my favorites of my 4 little delights!!

Uncle Lang stayed with us for a good month and went back to Nevada to get some things arranged. He will be moving to Minnesota when things are ready for him. I honestly believe he brought some nice weather with him, because when he was here it was almost always gorgeous outside. Now we have a heatwave and I think that Lang was good luck! He was good company during the day, an extra set of hands to help around the house and a fun book-reading Uncle. He paid me a great compliment, that for a Standard American Diet eater, he said I cook as good as his mother!
Til next time, on this wonderful earth, later!
