We were borrowing one to use in the Roadshow (see below post) and would have to give it back in a few days. Watching the red light crawl up and hearing the waaa-waaaah sounds as it swished back and forth felt epic."Time for bed." I sounded. It was 8 o'clock and the 3 girls got in line to do train.
"Chugga-chugga-chugga-chugga..." Went the family in no particular height order. Joe was the caboose and was last to clamp on to the thundering movement down the hallway.
"Woooo-wooooo!" Xela sounded and we arrived at our first and only stop.
"First stop! Xela, Charlotte and Anne's room!" Xela said. She liked to be the one to make the announcement. The usual last diaper was changed and prayers were said. Daddy read from the scriptures but had to cut it a little short because Anne kept grabbing at his long toy.
"I think she wants to play with it." I said, "You should let her." Joe turned on the light saber and handed it to her. She moved it around with a wide grin as the glow lit up her face. We watched her contentment. The other girls liked to play with it just as much. Wanting one last turn, Charlotte played with it. I enticed Anne with nursing and she gave it up. Char held on to the hilt and tried to keep it steady.I focused on my babe and began quietly singing. Joe was talking with the two girls. I ended a song and tuned in. Joe was obviously in a playful mood while the girls laughed.
"No you can't have it yet, Oh-Dont-Whine." What did he say? I get it! Ha. Joe called Xela Oh-Dont-Whine. He heard me laugh as he continued his dialogue, pointing the light saber in Chalotte's direction.
"And you! No-Hand-Solo."Oh boy! The girls weren't going to bed any time soon. I could sense he was in an extra good mood so I asked, "Joe could you go fill up the sippy cup?"
"What? You need the sippy cup filled?" He turned around, thrusting the saber in the air, "Then I shall go and do it." He bounded down the hall as we all giggled.

He came back in the room triumphant and handed me the cup. "Here you go Princess Lay-Up."
Yes! I've been dubbed! And who wouldn't want to be a princess? If I could only do a lay-up... Technicality. I'll keep the name.
"What about baby Anne?" I asked out loud. She was toddling around the room getting into several things before she was locked up in bed. This is kinda fun.
"Anne? She's Yo-Play..." How does he think up these things so quickly?
"And what about you?" I wanted to know. We settled on Look-A-Bridge-Builder.
Since we were all so happy with our new names and Daddy seemed to feel he could conquer anything, I took the liberty to remind Joe the dishes needed to be washed.
"The dishes? The dishes shall be done Princess Lay-Up." He said resolutely in a superhero stance.
Nice!
"Now, Oh-Dont-Whine, No-Hand-Solo and Yo-Play, climb into bed!" They happily jumped into bed as Joe clicked off the light. We sang our good night song with added whooshing while Joe waved his arm.
We closed the door to the girls room and Joe did the dishes while I made his lunch for the next day.
So, is fatherhood more fun with a light saber? I think so. Wait, who did the red one belong to?
Da-da-da-daaaaa-daaaaaa, da-da-da-daaaa-duh, da-da-da-daaaaa-duh, da-da-da-duh...

LOVE it! Better be thinking of some names for us when we join you in your Star Wars land in a month!!!!! Can't wait!
It's ALL about light sabers here. Ours aren't nearly as cool as that one, though!
I love your bedtime train!
way to capture a very ordinary and way too precious moment! Seems like those are the best kinds.
